Each student is expected to actively contribute to class discussion with comments and questions on the day’s readings, which demonstrate completion of the assigned readings.  Please come to class with one written “comment” and one written “question” PER CHAPTER PER WEEK about the readings to facilitate the class discussion.  Generally, a few sentences in bullet-point format are adequate.  This doesn’t mean that you’ve understood and processed all of the readings for the day, but rather that you’ve read with a critical eye toward reflecting, analyzing, and/or questioning what you’ve read.  You don’t need to always agree with what you’ve read; rather, divergent viewpoints are welcome as long as they are genuine.  This assignment should be submitted by 10:00PM on the day prior to the specified class in which we will be discussing those readings. .  (Of course, you may wish to have a copy available for yourself during the class also.)  To earn credit, this assignment is due at the specific time, even if you are unable to attend that day’s class.
