Activity 2: Reflection on Topic 1: (Basic issues and Theories of Development) 200-250 Words.
After reading Topic 1, (Basic issues and Theories of Development) identify any one child development theory/concept) that you had not heard about or had not understood before and reflect on the way in which it now adds to your understanding of child emotional development.
This explanation and reflection is a step towards you learning to recount the emotional development of children and adolescents.
Activity 3: Recount on Topic 2 (Physical and Brain Development) – 200-250 WORDS.
After reading Topic 2, outline your understanding of how a child’s care experiences can impact their physical or brain development and consequently what impact this may have on their emotional development.
This task encourages you to recount the general development of children, identify adverse circumstances that impact the emotional development of children and adolescents and asks you to recount how different contexts and care experiences influence the development of children.
Activity 4: Topic 3 (Temperament and The Developing Self) – 200-250 WORDS.
After reading Topic 3, Discuss your opinion of the impact of temperament on children’s relationships with parents/caregivers and others in their environment (peers, teachers), paying attention to context and drawing on what you understand about the dimensions of adaptability and self-regulation. Discuss how this ultimately influences the development of children.
This task encourages you to learn to be able to express opinions on issues in child and adolescent psychology. You will need to consider both personal and objective perspectives to increase your understanding. Considering the influence of different contexts particularly family and society on child and adolescent development is also essential.
